ACCOMMODATION

 

Magam Village is the commercial center of North Ambrym.  It has a branch of the National Bank of Vanuatu (NBV), a Western Union Money Transfer, a Guest House and four large shops owned by locals where people can buy fresh bread, canned food, soft drinks, etc.  There is also a local market with fresh fruits and vegetables open on Tuesdays and Thursdays every week.

It is concrete with a traditional thatch roof run by Olal Secondary School’s principal Mr Napong Norbert.  There is a 30 minute walk to the festival grounds. There are some 4WD trucks that can provide taxi services.

It has four rooms, each with a double mattress, and you can walk down to a pretty black-sand beach.

Toussi Coop Guest House

Located inside the Toussi Cooperative Shop where everyone hangs out.

 Run by the manager of Toussi Coop, good cooking facilities, flush toilet.

ANCHORAGE

 

There are two anchorages at north Ambrym for those of you who are owning yacht.

 

Ranon is the bigger one with black beach that can welcome more than 20 vessel.

It is about 8 km to Magam, you can get there by boat.

 

Nobul is the one that is near Magam village.

It is not big anchorage compare to Ranon,

From there you can take a walk for 30 minutes to Magam, or get there by boat
